Computer Builds

Postby GeEkOfWiReS1097 » Mon Jul 18, 2016 3:41 am

So I got to talking about this in Discord and thought about it a bit. So here's the general idea that I got out of it.

Many of us usually have computers, so I thought we could do a general Computer Parts list thread where anyone can toss their ideas in and see how it goes. It's not as much about offering up systems to look into buying (although you still can), but posting some ideas to work with. Try to stick to three categories though. Lists should include everything necessary to run it, including mice, keyboards, monitors, etc.

1. Gaming Systems. To qualify as a gaming system, it must have a dedicated graphics card with at least 1GB of Discrete VRAM.
2. Task Oriented/Dev Systems. These systems are aimed more at productivity for the price or skipping on high performance graphics for better monitors, better CPU performance, more memory, and does not qualify as gaming system

Both of the above should only have currently available parts that are new. If it can't be bought new, it shouldn't be listed. You can list as many of these as you want.

3. Your System. This can either be your current system, planned system, or both. Parts do not have to be new as some parts aren't available anymore. Laptops are acceptable here as well.

If you want to add a system to the replying. Replies should be reserved for comments on how to best change a system or praise one. Each system build should have its appropriate architect listed. Builds should try to stick to a minimum of 4GB of RAM, and a minimum of 1GHz processing power.

We can probably also talk about other stuff in the thread too, but the thread should really be dedicated to the builds. Every build listed in this thread is easily capable of playing PlanetSide 1, considering the minimums listed.

I'll start off with mine

I hope nobody really bought any of the Systems you posted here... You suggest an AMD CPU for a Gaming PC? In 2016? Even if highly overclocked they get slapped by a i5. Also, a 600W Power Supply?! For a Single GPU System? 500 is way enough, and never ever Start Loopings After Money when it comes to PSU's. Its the Heart of the PC. And a Singlerail Chinaboom like the one u suggested is bollox. Then, a SLI... Ok, if u want to waste money - way to many problems, shitty driver support etc, etc... Oh, and if u want to waste Even more Money, make it an 970 SLI like yours. I dont even want to get into the 3.5GB "Feature" - Google for it. No offense man, but those setups are wasted money.

500€:
